South West Region Public Body Spend
Formative work (based on a limited and restricted survery of organisations) on building construction spending by public body organisations in the South West has identified that conservatively over £450 million annually is spent by County Councils, Unitary Authorities, District Councils, Police & Fire Authorities and Universities.
The majority of spend follows on from costly individual tendering exercises.
It has been calcuated if 50% of the £450 million (ie £225 million) were to be channelled through a Regional Construction Framework this could result in efficiency gains of over £9 million per annum.
